Woodland Press is the result of a dream of two southern West Virginians who desired to provide Appalachian authors a venue in which to create, publish and sell their work.

Logan County author, F. Keith Davis, co-founded Woodland Press with his Brother-in-law, Tim Fortune and their wives due to experiencing the frustration of finding eager publishers without having an established portfolio of existing literary works.
Shop our Company Store for current books published by and/or represented by Woodland Press. You may even find a unique craft or artwork hand-made in the Appalachian region.

F. Keith Davis

Keith is a longtime newspaperman and author in West Virginia. He is originally from Wapakoneta, Ohio, in the northwest region of the Buckeye State. However, he has called West Virginia home for the better part of thirty years, and now considers himself an adopted Mountaineer.

He is a former advertising account executive, managing editor, graphic designer and newspaper publisher. He has studied graphic design and desktop publishing at Phoenix College, in Phoenix, Arizona, and through inter-company training programs and seminars. He has worked as a graphic artist and writer for many years. He has earned a variety of awards and honors from his peers in categories such as: feature writing, graphic design, advertising, ad copy writing, newspaper design, editorial cartooning, large and small ad campaigns and promotional development from organizations such as the West Virginia Press Association, Phoenix College, Smith Newspapers, Inc., and the National Newspaper Association of America.

He has been involved in the development of long term marketing strategies, production schedules and annual budgets for both weekly and daily newspapers and is currently the general manager of The Logan Banner, a daily newspaper in Logan, WV. Likewise, he is involved in the development of vendors and alliances for Woodland Press.

A member of West Virginia Writers, Inc., he is considered a skilled author in the Mountain State and has received public and critical acclaim for his first book, The Secret Life and Brutal Death of Mamie Thurman. Then, his second book, West Virginia Tough Boys, was an instant Mountain State best seller and received rave reviews across the country. He was recently featured on C-Span Book-TV, along with several other prominent West Virginia authors. His work has also been published in state and national magazines such as: West Virginia Magazine, The Singing News, The U.S. Gospel News and Golden Seal Magazine.

Keith has recently completed a complete rewrite of the Mamie Thurman story, which will soon be published by Quarrier Press, in collaboration with Woodland Press. The new work is an expansion of the original book, in that he has researched the subject matter and brought new material to the story. He is also editing several upcoming projects for Woodland Press and Woodland Gospel Publishing. Besides his work with Woodland Press, Keith is involved in the music ministry – playing bass guitar — at Sunbeam Chapel, a Baptist church, in Sunbeam, West Virginia, where he and wife, Cheryl, attend. He is also on the Advisory Council of the Hopper Heritage Foundation and is involved in the North Carolina Gospel Music Hall of Honor, and is also a member of the Southern Gospel Music Association.

Keith and Cheryl reside in Chapmanville, WV.

She is often the first person an author or vendor speaks with when he or she calls our Chapmanville offices. As with all members of the management team, Cheryl places an emphasis on courteous service and integrity.

She is also involved in the development of the Online Store. The store features the unique writings, craftsmanship, and creativity of Appalachian authors and artisans.
