Logan Banner drops Monday issue
LOGAN, W.VA - (May 14, 2009) - It's a sign of the times and of a despondent economy.
The Logan Banner, the daily newspaper in Logan, WV, announced that it has dropped its Monday edition. The Banner, owned by Clinton, Connecticut-based Heartland Publications, made the announcement in today's edition of their paper.
The newspaper cited declining ad revenue and the need to reduce printing and distribution costs in ending the edition. Last Monday was the last of the Monday issues to be published. The newspaper will now publish five days a week-- Tuesday through Friday, with a morning Sunday edition.
In May, a sister Heartland newspaper, the Portsmouth Daily Times, in Portsmouth, Ohio, also suspended its Monday issue.
