Woodland Press CEO and Gov. Tomblin's Sr. Advisor Interviewed for History Channel

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. - Recently, on Thurs., Feb. 2nd, F. Keith Davis, CEO of Woodland Press, was interviewed along with Raamie Barker, senior advisor to West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, for an upcoming documentary on the Hatfield and McCoy Feud, which is scheduled to air on Saturday, June 2 at 4 pm ET, on the History channel. The interviews were conducted by Mark Cowen, who was working with Think Factory Media, of Los Angeles, and was held locally at pbh Art Photography Studio at Pitt Branch, Chapmanville, owned and operated by Peggie B. Hensley.

Mr. Cowen has worked in the documentary field for several years and his making of "The Band of Brothers," as well as "Apollo's Man Walking on the Moon," were both Emmy nominated pieces. The video production team members were from Trifecta Productions of Huntington, WV.

During the interviews, Davis talked about the history of the Hatfield/McCoy feud and the historical research and writings of C.A. Hatfield and Dr. Coleman C. Hatfield; while Barker focused his discussion on state laws and the political climates, in both Kentucky and West Virginia, at the time of the feud.

Although there is no way of knowing if the interviews shot last Thursday in Chapmanville will be used in the final cut, Davis says it remains a tremendous honor and a great blessing to be considered for such a project.

The books, "The Tale of the Devil," written by Coleman C. Hatfield and Robert Y. Spence (Woodland Press), "The Feuding Hatfields & McCoys," by Coleman C. Hatfield and F. Keith Davis (Woodland Press), "The Devil's Son," written by Anne Black Gray (Woodland Press), and "Images of America: Logan County, WV," penned by F. Keith Davis (Arcadia Publishing), along with other works, are being used as resource materials for the film.

Part of that documentary also includes reenactments of the feud events. That was shot at Huntington’s national award-winning Heritage Farm Museum and Village featuring area personalities Clint McElroy, Debbie and Kim Wolfe, Mike Coffey and others.

The documentary is to air on Memorial Day weekend in conjunction with a dramatic mini-series on the feud, titled, “The Hatfields and McCoys: An American Vendetta," that will star Kevin Costner, Bill Paxton and others.
